S. Korea¡¯s Hyundai launches new Genesis luxury sedan G70

South Korea¡¯s Hyundai Motor Co. launched its highly anticipated Genesis G70 luxury performance sedan in Seoul on Friday, hoping to increase its presence in the luxury segment.

Athletic elegance is represented in the exterior styling with a prominent crest-type grille, character lines extending from the hood emblem and pronounced air intakes.

Genesis designers employed premium materials throughout, including quilted leather door panels and Nappa leather seats that further add to the dynamic yet elegant interior.

The Genesis G70 comes with three different powertrains: a turbocharged 3.3-liter gasoline V6, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline I4, and a 2.2-liter I4 diesel models. The 3.3-liter gasoline version named ¢®¡ÆG70 Sports¢®¡¾ sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 270 km per hour. Electronic control suspension (ECS), rack-mounted, motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS) and multi-link rear suspension were applied to ensure smooth and comfortable driving.

The Genesis G70 also incorporates numerous advanced driver assist systems such as Highway Driving Assist (HDA), best-in-class safety with nine standard airbags and active hood function among others.

The price of the standard 2.0-liter turbo gasoline model is ranged from 37.5 million won ($33,000) to 42.95 million won, while diesel 2.2-liter is priced at 40.8 million won to 43.25 million won. The top-of-the-line 3.3-liter turbo is set from 44.9 million won to 51.8 million won. The G70 goes on sale in Korea on Sept. 20, with timing for its rollout in other markets to be announced soon.

The carmaker said the Genesis lineup will grow to six by 2021, with the addition of two SUVs and an EV model.
