Shinsung E&G Co., mid-sized solar energy firm in Korea, said on Wednesday that it won an 11.4 billion won ($10 million) deal to ship solar cells to Silfab Solar, a monocrystalline photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer based in Canada.

The Canada¡¯s leading solar energy firm has kept up supply contract with Shinsung E&G since 2012. The latest order is in high-efficiency passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) that the Korean company launched earlier this year.

The company¡¯s PERC is higher in efficiency than regular cells. Shinsung E&G turns out cells in 21.7 percent or higher efficiency, beating out existing solar batteries whose efficiency averages at 20 percent.

¡°This is the first large-scale PERC contract. The booming semiconductor and display market and brisk sales of PERC has been improving our performance,¡± said an official from Shinsung E&G.
