Coway Co., Korea¡¯s leading manufacturer of water and air purifiers, will within the year deploy robotic air purifiers that move on their own to clean the air at airports across Korea.

The company said on Tuesday it signed an agreement with Korea Airports Corp. for a trial operation of the smart air purifiers in major airports.

The moving robots will clean up the air inside airport terminals, areas suffering from poor air quality due to the constant streams of people. These smart devices are programmed to actively seek out polluted areas and suck up the impurities, according to the company.

Starting with Gimpo International Airport near the country¡¯s capital Seoul, the company will gradually increase its fleet to other major airports in the country.

Coway first unveiled its robotic air purifiers in January at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world¡¯s largest tradeshow for consumer electronics and consumer technology held in Las Vegas. Coway CEO Lee Hae-sun said this trial run in airports would be a ¡°great opportunity to showcase Coway¡¯s advanced technology to the world.¡±
