Daiso Asung Corp., an operator of Korea¡¯s discount retailer Daiso, will invest 195 billion won ($173 million) to build automated logistics center in southern coast city of Busan, the company announced on Thursday.

The company will break ground for the logistics center in October, and aims to complete the construction by 2019. The center will be set up on a site of 73,696 square meters in Mieum-dong in Busan.

The center commanding a floor area of 105,000 square meters is 1.65 times bigger than the company¡¯s Namsa logistics center built in 2012 in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. The new Busan center will have an automated warehouse and sorting system.

The company said the new center would help it enhance its supplying capacity by establishing an immediate and stable supply system. The center would also handle the company¡¯s import and export volumes.

Daiso, a Korean version of dollar store with an aim to provide quality products at affordable prices, plans to develop new products in cooperation with partners in Busan, and contribute to economic development and job creation of Busan and South Gyeongsang Province.
