Users of LG Electronics Inc.’s new flagship smartphone V30 will be able to unlock their phones by saying a secret phrase to their phones thanks to voice-recognition technology.

According to LG Electronics that is desperate to revive demand for its smartphones on Monday, the V30 will come with a voice-recognition solution that will allow its user to unlock the device on voice command. With the voice recognition system enabled by Qualcomm Aqstic voice UI technology, the phone user just needs to set up keywords and unlock the device instantly by speaking the preset keywords to the device.

The voice recognition-based unlock system will give both fun and convenience, allowing its user to switch on the phone even in darkness, said an unnamed LG Electronics official, adding that the company will improve the system’s security level.

LG V30 can also be unlocked via face or fingerprint recognition functions as well as knocking on the phone.

On top of the upgraded unlock functions, the company has added semi-transparent floating bar in place of a second screen, which gives quick access to various features and collapses to a corner when it is not in use. The second display is one of the key features of the predecessors V10 and V20.

The new phone is also fitted with an advanced camera system, enabling its user to produce images like professional photographers. The “Graphy” that can be accessed via the V30’s camera app will allow its user to choose professional shots stored in the device and apply the preset features such as white balance, shutter speed, aperture and ISO to the photos taken with the V30. The company is also readying a website and app for users to download more professional photos.
