À̹ÌÁö È®´ë SK Telecom Co., South Korea¡¯s largest telecommunications company, said it was deploying network virtualization technologies in compliance with the 5G New Radio standards, a key step towards delivering gigabit-speed connection in mobile spectrum in the new-generation wireless environment.
T-MANO is the company¡¯s self-developed framework for managing and orchestrating virtualized network functions and other software components. The platform would allow the wireless carrier to manage service quality and data traffic virtually and respond more promptly to system failures, the company said. It can also save time for system upgrades under the integrated system.
The system will be first applied on its virtualized HD voice routers, then to LTE Packet Core referring to the core LTE system, and later onto MMS server. From 2019, it will only deploy virtualized LTE system.
¡°We will continue to develop network virtualization technologies and accumulate operational knowhow for virtualized networks to thoroughly prepare for the upcoming era of 5G,¡± said Choi Seung-won, senior vice president and head of infrastructure strategy office at SK Telecom.
