Hillary Rodham Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State, will be making a keynote speech at the 18th World Knowledge Forum (WKF) in Seoul on October 18.

It would be Clinton¡¯s first visit to South Korea since 2009 and her first speech to be delivered outside of North America since her presidential election campaign in the U.S. Her Seoul visit draws attention as it is planned amid the growing geopolitical threats on the Korean peninsula and in neighboring regions from North Korea¡¯s nuclear weapon and missiles tests.

The WKF hosted by South Korea¡¯s major business media Maekyung Media Group is the largest annual business forum in Asia where worldly renowned figures gather to share their insights on political, economic, social and cultural issues facing the global community.

This year¡¯s WKF will be held between October 17 and 19 at Jangchung Arena and Hotel Shilla in central Seoul under the theme of ¡®Infection Point: Towards New Prosperity.¡¯

Clinton will deliver the keynote address on the second day of the event, October 18.

Other leading global political figures including Francois Hollande, former president of France, and Enrico Letta, former prime minister of Italy, as well as renowned business moguls such as Zhang Yaqin, president of Baidu Inc., and Russell Stokes, president and chief executive officer of GE Power, will attend this year¡¯s forum to speak on international challenges and opportunities facing the world.

Moreover, Harvard economist Oliver Hart, one of the 2016 Nobel laureates in economics, will share his insights on economics in a new era, while MIT Professor and 1997 Nobel laureate Robert Merton will introduce changes in the global investment environment and new investment strategies.
